Seven faculty in five departments were awarded WATERS funding to engage their students in water-related projects this semester. Awardees are:

  • Owen Anfinson (Geology) - Characterization of the alluvial fan reach of Copeland Creek
  • Laura Waters (Geology) - Sonoma folcanics, their weathering products and landslide susceptibility
  • Derek Girman (Biology) - Effects of recent wildfire on pond-edge abitat use by lizards
  • Mark Perri (Chemistry) - Effects of wastewater treatment on pharmaceuticals
  • Jackie Guilford (Geography, Environment and Planning) - Analysis of water quality downstream of the Tubbs Fire
  • Wendy St. John (Geography, Environment and Planning) - Monitoring habitat restoration on Copeland Creek
  • Mike Cohen (Biology) - Techniques for improving filtration of water produced by a microbial fuel cell-based system for on-site treatment of winery wastewater
