Details

Oak woodlands support over 330 animal species and hundreds of plants, fungi, and other organisms, and provide immeasurable cultural, economic, and social value. However, like most natural habitats in California, oak woodlands are vulnerable to a number of challenges and uncertainties. Oak enthusiasts, landowners, natural resource managers, and foresters are invited to join us for a series of virtual talks and a live Q&A session discussing the threats faced by California’s native oak trees and oak woodlands. Talks include conservation of Oregon white oak and California black oak woodlands, sudden oak death and other Phytophthora problems in oaks and tanoak, wildfire in tanoak and Ca black oak, blue oak, and interior live oak woodlands, and a new, non-native beetle threat to valley oaks.

Recorded presentations from several oak specialists will be made available online April 14th at ucanr.edu/OakHealth. On April 21st at 10:00 AM, we will host a live moderated Q&A session on Zoom.

This event is being held in collaboration with UCCE Sonoma's Sudden Oak Death Program, who is also partnering with us to hold the Sudden Oak Death Blitz events in early May:  http://cesonoma.ucanr.edu/suddenoakdeath
