3-D printing of a watershed

Makerspace technology has applications in many different fields, including Environmental Studies. One of the goals of this project was to explore different ways topographical landform models could be created, using equipment available in the Sonoma State Makerspace. This project utilizes 3-D printing to create models of landforms at different scales, levels of detail, and using different data sources. Specifically, I wanted to make something relevant to environmental education and interpretation, so I created a topographical model of the Fairfield Osborn Preserve, using 3-D printing as the method. The model is used in the Preserve's Interpretive Center to educate groups of schoolchildren, as well as members of the public, who come to learn about various environmental topics.
