Copeland Creek 360 View

The perennial upper reaches of Copeland Creek are fishless and contain an unusually diverse assemblage of aquatic macroinvertebrates. (Detailed descriptions of the insects' aquatic and terrestrial life stages can be made available to interested researchers). The top redator in the system is the magnificent Pacific Giant Salamander (Dicamptodonensatus), which can grow up to fourteen inches long. Riparian vegetation on the Preserve includes white alder (Alnus rhombifolia), hazelnut (Corylus cornuta), arroyo willow (Salix lasiolepis) and snowberry (Symphoricarpos albus).
