Marsh 360 View
This natural freshwater marsh (identified by the green rushes in the photo) used to be an open lake only 60 years ago. The lake was formed when local rhyolitic rocks became wet and slippery during a rainstorm. The resulting landslide created a flat area and blocked the water from excaping downhill. Over the last six decades, the lake has been gradually filling in with sediment from the surrounding uplands. (Photo: Kristi Yost, 6/7/2012, 11:08:06 AM)
