Native Perennial Bunch Grasses (Fescue Trail)

Native bunch grasses (here mostly Festuca californica and Festuca idahoensis) dominate the oak woodland understory in thhis area of the Preserve. While many of the Preserve's open grasslands are dominated by non-native grasses, natvie grass diversity in the woodland understory is largely intact (11 native and 0 non-native grasses).
