Oak Woodland 360 View

Oak woodlands on the Preserve are predominantly deciduous black (Quercus kellogii) and oregon oak (Quercus garryana). Oaks are a keystone species, providing fat-and-amino-acid-rich acorns that are a food source for many species. One of the many studies on Sudden Oak Death at the Preserve indicates that oaks are being replaced by bays as the dominant woodland species. (Photo: Kristi Yost, 6/7/2012, 2:42:28 PM)
