Virtual Field Trips

Interested in exploring ecosystems first hand? At The Virtual Field, you can poke your nose into places you've always wanted to visit or talk with field researchers studying ecosystem processes around the world.   

If you are an instructor, The Virtual Field instructional materials (university and K-12) are designed to improve student observation, communication, and critical thinking skills. Just register on the Virtual Field website for free access to all materials. If you are interested in joining this community with participation support from NSF, please connect with us about the current faculty learning community. 

The Virtual Field was founded by the CEI in 2020. Since then, it has grown into an international initiative that engages over 120 field stations and marine laboratories (FSMLs) and faculty at minority-serving institutions.
