Abstract
The usage of antibiotics has exponentially increased in the last few decades and this has created few environmental issues that have been noted by the EPA in the United States. It has been stablished that azithromycin (AZ) can make it into different deposits of water such as wastewater. In this study/research the chlorination of AZ was studied by reacting trace amount of the antibiotic with diluted concentration of bleach. The reaction was run through TSQ Quantum Mass Spectrometer in order to monitored change in the mass spectrum of AZ.
