Abstract
The problem we are exploring addresses scientists collecting data electronically in remote areas over long periods of time. Batteries have a limited lifespan and and our project aims to increase battery longevity. We aim to increase battery longevity through a reduction of stress inherent in rapid charge and discharge of batteries using our Smooth Power design. We found that with Smooth Power on, the battery discharge current increases up to OpAmp detection threshold then discharge current is offset by solar charged supercaps.
